The seminar will feature a number of brief talks on the subject of human sacrifice and related forms of ritualized human violence.
Both volumes are published under the auspices of the research project ‘Human Sacrifice & Value: the limits of sacred violence’. The project explores the prevalence of sacrifice in physical manifestations, rituals, and social mechanisms to gain valuable insights into past and present social and political challenges. Hosted by the Museum of Cultural History at University of Oslo and funded by the Norwegian Research Council 2018-2023 (FRIPROHUMSAM 275947).
The talks also include experiences from the organization of the research project and are held by the following members of the research project; Senior researcher Matthew Walsh (National museum, Copenhagen), Head of Department Marianne Moen (Department of Archaeology at the Museum of Cultural History), Professor Ketil Arnulf (BI, Norwegian Business School), Publisher and independent scholar Sean O'Neill, (University of Cambridge), and Professor Svein H. Gullbekk (Museum of Cultural History).
