HOOKED aims to gain new knowledge of how prehistoric fishing equipment was manufactured, by combining technological analysis and actualistic experiments with bone fishhooks. We are replicating bone fishhooks from Mesolithic and Neolithic coastal and interior sites in Norway and Sweden, using bones from various species of deer (red deer, roe deer and elk). Our first joint paper was recently published in EXARC journal https://exarc.net/issue-2020-3/ea/roe-deer-mesolithic-fishhooks).
