Participants can submit papers to either Focus Point (EPJ+) "Advances and Innovation in Heritage Science" or the Volume "Innovation in Art Conservation Research" (Springer)

Guidelines for submissions to Focus Point (EPJ+) "Advances and Innovation in Heritage Science"

  • Logo of EPJ.orgOnly papers referring to oral or poster presentations given during the InART2024 conference will be allowed for the conference's focus point: "Advances and Innovation in Heritage Science".
  • To prepare your manuscript, please refer to the submission guidelines for EPJ+ (springer.com). Find special latex template at springernature.com.
  • Manuscripts must not have been previously published or submitted for publication elsewhere.
  • Each submission will undergo the usual journal peer-reviewing procedure to assess the required quality, relevance, and originality. Please consider that you can submit your contribution as soon as it is ready.

Manuscripts must be submitted on the EPJ+ submission system following the instruction:

  • Go to the EPJ+ submission system
  • Instructions regarding step 1: “Article type selection”, please select “Regular Article”.
  • Instructions regarding step 2: “General Information”, please select “Optics and physics of Cultural Heritage”
  • Instructions regarding step 5:  “Additional Information”, please reply “Yes” to the question “Are you submitting this manuscript following an invitation to contribute to a focus point” (topical article collection by invitation of guest editors)?'” Then, please select "Focus Point on Advances and Innovation in Heritage Science. Guest editors: L. de Ferri, C. C. Steindal, D. Bersani".

Guest editors

The guest editors coordinating the peer review process for the focus point “Advances and Innovation in Heritage Science” are:

  • Lavinia de Ferri from the Museum of Cultural History, University of Oslo, Norway
  • Calin Constantin Steindal from the Museum of Cultural History, University of Oslo, Norway
  • Danilo Bersani from the Department of Mathematics, Physics and Computer Sciences, University of Parma, Italy

Guest editors will supervise the process until final decision by the journal's editorial board.

Guidelines for submissions to Volume "Innovation in Art Conservation Research" (Springer)

In addition to the Focus Point "Advances and Innovation in Heritage Science", InART2024 is will also open the volume Innovation in Art Conservation Research - Contributions from the 6th International Conference on Innovation in Art Research and Technology - InART 2024, Oslo, 4-7 June 2024, published by Springer. 

The volume aims to include contributions with a stronger conservation perspective, not fitting the general Aims & Scope of EPJ+. Papers published in this volume represent the latest research pointing towards future directions conservators must develop, such as more sustainable practices and protocols. The need for improved collaboration with natural sciences is another important topic touched on in the volume.

Requirements

  • Only papers referring to oral or poster presentations given during the InART2024 conference will be allowed for the volume Innovation in Art Conservation Research.
  • Manuscripts must not have been previously published or submitted for publication elsewhere.
  • Each submission will undergo the usual journal peer-reviewing procedure to assess the required quality, relevance, and originality. Please consider that you can submit your contribution as soon as it is ready (i.e. before 24th October 2024).
  • Please refer to the Key Style Points and to the Book Manuscript Guidelines for your manuscript structure, figure resolution, reference style, etc.
  • Each contribution can have a maximum length of 12 pages and contain maximum 4 images, 2 of which can be in full color. 
  • Please remember to obtain permission to use third-party material in the manuscript. Production of the final manuscript can only be started when all permissions for Third Party Material have been cleared. To obtain permission, visit the Rights Holder website or the Copyright Clearance Center Marketplace. If the material is not found, please use the Springer’s Permissions Request Form and/or Release Request Form.
