Europe’s coastal regions hold a treasure trove of prehistoric finds, which give insights into how people through millennia have inhabited the coast and dealt with the sea. Museum of Cultural History is proud to coordinate the HORIZON Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action (MSCA) Doctoral Network ArCHe (2024-2027). The project aims to investigate, make visible, communicate and preserve rich coastal heritage after Stone Age hunter-fisher-gatherers (c. 12,000-2000 calBC) across Europe.

ArCHe bridges humanities, life sciences, earth sciences and social sciences, and develops best practices of dealing with this vulnerable legacy for a sustainable future. This Doctoral network unites 15 partner institutions from six European countries.

We invite you to follow our journey as we seek to increase the scientific and public value of Europe’s Stone Age coastal heritage. Check out our website www.arche.uio.no for updates on the project.
