Fetish (caryatid)

Region and culture: Either Luba Kingdom og Kuba Kingdom  

Description: Female caryatid carved out of wood. The woman is kneeling whilst holding a board over her head. Has similarities with other types of headrests, the biggest difference is that this object is in miniature form. The caryatid comes from either the Luba Kingdom or the Kuba Kingdom.  The objects height is 8.5 cm. 

The Ethnographic museum bought this object from R.IW Jensen for £10 in 1885.
