Bamboo rod

Region and Culture: Might originate from a place between Angola and Kinshasa 

Description: Bamboo rod with incised décor. Remains of a secondary montage of a floor lamp is visible as well. The rod displays seven separate sections with images of anthropomorphic and zoomorphic motifs. Judging by the style of the rod, it could originate from the southern part of the Congo-basin, presumably the border between Angola and Kinshasa. Length 94, 5 cm. Diameter: 4 cm.  

The object was collected by watchmaker Fredrik August Michelet and was donated to the Ethnographic Museum by Randi Schrader Nielsen. Date for donation is currently unknown.
